With only Michael constrained by work and the rest of us doing their best to distract him, we are quickly transforming into travellers. All our possessions are on their way to Switzerland, our camping gear waiting for us in Jo’burg, which leaves us with not much more than the clothes we are wearing, a lean light feel to life and a bit of time on our hands to discover the Cape as tourists, residents no more. Places we’ll be visiting during the next few days include Ratanga Junction, Robben Island, Cape Point and lots of restaurants on Kloof Street.
The last two years of blogging reveal quite a few transformations we’ve gone through: from unilingual kids to worldly discoverers, from anger and confusion to a deeper feeling for this nation’s challenges, from reliable Swiss citizens to people who understand different shades of „now“.
Parzival is accompanying me on the travels ahead – indicating at least an interest in transforming my question of „What is my desire?“ to genuinely asking „What are your sorrows?“ . A journey in itself.
This blog will also transform in the next couple of months – from mostly German to predominantly English, from a wannabe-writer’s warm-up exercise to a family-school-project, from my blog to ours. The time feels right.
